MY STYLE AT HOME

ExteriorDSC_0017 New Apartment KitchenkitchenDSC_0046 BedDSC_0041 studio PupsHappy Monday, Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  My fiancee and I spent the weekend continuing to get settled into our new apartment in Los Angeles.  That said, instead of posting about fashion today as I normally do, I figured I’d showcase some of the rooms we’re in the midst of decorating.  Here goes:

THE EXTERIOR: The outside of our apartment has so much character and I love that there are so many ornate features still in tact from the 1920’s when it was built.  The front doors are so intricate and I love the carvings that frame them.

THE KITCHEN: We love that our kitchen is all black and white–from the checkered floors to the cabinets.  We decided to keep this them so we decorated with black dishes and then added red accents.  I have a recent obsession with succulents so we added three in our kitchen and we put them in red pots.

THE BEDROOM: Our bedroom is still very much in the works but so far, our headboard arrived and we’re loving it! From there, we kept our bedding simple and all white.  We also invested in a Cal King bed and now we’re sleeping like royalty!  I love the beautiful windows in our bedroom that showcase tons of greenery outside.  I’m still on the quest for some night stands!

THE ART STUDIO: I am very lucky to be able to share an office space with my fiancee. I have converted my half of our office into an art studio where I am able to paint, design and sew. The lighting in our apartment–from the windows to the beautiful 1920’s-inspired lighting fixtures–is so bright and energizing, it helps feed our creativity.

THE FAMILY ROOM: Last but not least, this room needs the most work but we are loving it so far.  We still need a rug and coffee table, among other things but we did find the perfect couch–so that’s a start (and clearly the dogs love it)!  We were on the hunt to find one that had a vintage feel but that was new and comfy and this one is really perfect.  It’s also a queen sleeper sofa so our family and friends can crash at our place comfortably despite the fact that we don’t have a guest room.  I look forward to shopping for some fun, bright pillows and other fun accents for this room.
