I hardly ever need to wear a real winter jacket in Los Angeles but over the past couple of weeks or so, the weather has been a bit more unpredictable than usual–it’s been raining. Compared to other parts of the country, I know this is no big deal, but for Los Angelinos, it means we need to dig into the backs of our closets to pull out rain boots (most of the year they are just for show so we can’t wait to rock them), umbrellas (if we can even remember what those look like) and jackets.  It’s weeks like this where I remember how much I miss layering.

As a native New Yorker, my wardrobe used to be full of winter coats upon more winter coats but as an LA girl, this is barely ever the case. Today’s outfit is inspired by “winter” in LA or spring in most other parts of the country. I layered my favorite White Gap Sweater over my baby blue Gap Shrunken Boyfriend Shirt (I can’t get enough of pastels right now), added a JCrew Statement Necklace and a comfy black coat by BCBG.  For an extra pop of color, I added a Rebecca Minkoff Orange Mini Mac.
